synopsis

In this course, students will perform sampling of blood, body fluids, urine and other samples associated with animal diseases. Laboratory tests will be conducted on the samples in order to assist in making a diagnosis. The results of the tests will be interpreted to help in the treatment and diagnosis of diseases. Therefore, this course encompasses interpretation of parameters in haematology, clinical biochemistry, urinalysis and cytology to assist in the diagnosis of disease.  Clinical cases are used as materials in interpretation and problem solving.

Study on the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets

Biochemistry

Organ function tests, electroytes and biochemistry

Urinalysis

Physical, chemical and microscopic evaluation of urine

Cytology

Neoplasia, inflammation and fluid analysis
